Local Experiences Walk

Local Experiences are private guided walking tours for those who want to get from Newcastle what no guidebook or internet search could offer. You will be shown little-known pockets of our neighbourhood away from tourist hubs.

Local Experiences can be booked for 2 to 6 people from Tuesday to Sunday, depending on availability. 

We know that the ultimate way to get to know a city is with a local, doing things that they do. Each season we share a different part of Newcastle that we really love. SUMMER 2020/21: Inner Newcastle 

Our business owner Becky will share with you an exceptional little part of Newcastle that is rich with diverse heritage, culture, and stunning streets. Walking through the city from the Harbour to Cooks Hill, we will explore hidden secrets not often discovered by visitors. We want you to get the most of this neighbourhood, so we have worked out a way to show you its history and what it's about, and we can cover any particular interests you have along the way.

You will spend 3 hours with Becky, wandering through her favourite areas and exploring her favourite streets, old hidden houses, waterways, drinking holes and cafes. You will learn about what makes Newcastle unique, including the creative scene, street art and local makers, and find bars and cafes that only the locals know about.

Timing

Experiences last approximately 3 hours / half day.

Location

You will meet at the water fountain next to The Signal Box Cafe, 155 Wharf Road, Newcastle. You will finish near Darby Street in Cooks Hill. 

Minimum Numbers

This private tour has a minimum of 2 guests to go ahead.

Cost

$300 per person. Your tour includes complimentary coffee, yummy food tastings and a cheeky locally brewed beer, and a personalised cocktail experience.

$250 per person. Your tour includes complimentary coffee and a local beer tasting with tapas.

This tour is not automatically bookable. Booking requests must be made at least 2 days ahead. We will get back to you within 24 hours of your request to confirm the booking.

Weather Information

Newcastle Afoot tours operate in nearly all weather conditions, so we will go ahead even if it is raining! Please check the weather on the morning of your tour and prepare appropriately - bring a rain jacket as needed.
